Fans will pump air through the alkaline stream, which causes carbon dioxide to form solid calcium carbonate, the material from which seashells are formed, which will look like a fine sand, as well as dissolved bicarbonate. The seawater will also be sent back into the sea, ready to absorb more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The ambition is to scale up to 100,000 metric tons of CO2 removal a year by the end of 2026, and from there to millions of metric tons over the next few decades, Sanders told CNN. Equatic has already signed a deal with Boeing to sell it 2,100 metric tons of hydrogen, which it plans to use to create green fuel, and to fund the removal of 62,000 metric tons of CO2. It will remove just under 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide a year, with the aim of scaling up to 100,000 metric tons a year by the end of 2026.

AdvertisementI've spent a lot of money and time on Amazon Prime. And I know it's not just me — Amazon is the second biggest retailer in the world, and three out of four Americans use Amazon Prime. I like that this strategy lets me shop and get some instant gratification while also setting limits that help me cut down on unnecessary purchases I'll regret later. But, again, with my new rule, if nothing in my cart will ship within one day, it all gets taken out. This cuts many of my unnecessary purchases because most things I consider buying have standard Prime two-day shipping.

An AWS spokesperson said in an emailed statement that the company has introduced more cost-effective options for moving data. As of March, AWS had removed Snowmobile from its website, and the Amazon unit has stopped offering the service, CNBC has confirmed. Andy Jassy, now Amazon's CEO, called it the Snowmobile, and said the company would be using the truck to help customers speedily transfer data to Amazon Web Services facilities. "We intend to make sure that Snowmobile is both faster and less expensive than using a network-based data transfer model," Barr wrote. Clients generally find that sending data to AWS online is more economical than using Snowmobile, the company said.

The Murrieta Police Department has been using Lego heads and emojis to cover people's faces in posts on social sites since at least early 2023. “Why the covered faces?” the department wrote March 18 in an Instagram post that featured five people in a lineup, their faces covered by Lego heads with varying expressions. The post went on to reference a California law that took effect Jan. 1, limiting departments in sharing mugshots on social media. The California law’s primary sponsor, Assemblymember Corey Jackson, said that while the Lego heads protect people's privacy, he wonders how Murrieta residents see it. “Do they want people, who are being paid with their tax dollars, be paid to put Lego faces on people so it can be shown on social media?

This can especially be true for parents of young girls, who are more likely than boys to suffer from confidence issues. That's according to a recent survey of 61,500 parents and children between the ages of 5 and 12 commissioned by the LEGO Group toy company. This impacts the key skill of creative confidence — which can carry into adulthood," says Harvard-trained journalist and parenting researcher Jennifer Breheny Wallace. Boosting your kids' confidence and creativity can be as simple as rethinking word choices and even the way you praise your child, according to Wallace. Here are four of her tips for parents to ensure they're raising highly confident girls.

He famously swooped in to turn around the struggling IndyMac bank after its failure in the financial crisis of 2008. Earlier this month, Mnuchin jumped back into the headlines when his PE firm led a roughly $1 billion investment in embattled New York Community Bancorp. In 2009, OneWest Bank Group, where Mnuchin was chairman and CEO, bought the troubled IndyMac after federal regulators took over the bank. Mnuchin was Treasury secretary in 2020, when the Trump administration brokered a deal where Oracle and Walmart would take a large stake in TikTok.

DETROIT – General Motors' long-time head of manufacturing is retiring, and the company has hired a former Tesla and Google executive to fill his shoes. The Detroit automaker said on Tuesday that Gerald Johnson, executive vice president of Global Manufacturing and Sustainability, will pass the baton to Jens Peter "JP" Clausen, a former executive with Tesla, Lego and, most recently, Google. Johnson's departure isn't unexpected after a 44-year tenure with the automaker, however GM also announced another more surprising departure on Tuesday: that of Mike Abbott, executive vice president of software and services. The Lego company grew sales 2% last year, even as the global toy industry saw sales slip 7%, according to data from Circana. The pandemic-era gains that fueled exponential toy industry sales growth waned in 2023 as consumers cut discretionary spending amid rising inflationary costs and increased credit card debt. Meanwhile Denmark-based Lego posted resilient sales, with revenue reaching 65.9 billion Danish krone, or about $9.65 billion, it said Tuesday. The company saw sales jump 27% in 2021 and 17% in 2022. The toymaker's top-performing brands last year included Lego Icons, Lego Technic, Lego City, Lego Harry Potter and Lego Star Wars.

Meet the Artist Delighting Amsterdam

In the spring of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, the always bustling Dam Square in Amsterdam was deserted, silent and surrounded by concrete counterterrorism blocks. The Dutch street artist Frank de Ruwe, who goes by the name of Frankey, decided these daunting studded blocks resembled something more innocent — giant Lego blocks — and that the city needed something to lighten the gloom. The result? Later that summer, Frankey created and placed a giant yellow-and-black Lego figure of the Dutch folk singer André Hazes, whose songs have been pub favorites in the Netherlands for more than 40 years.

London CNN —Taylor Swift might be saying “So Long, London” in her much-anticipated upcoming album but one of the city’s top museums is offering the dream job for any Swiftie. On Thursday, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) released a job listing for a Taylor Swift superfan to advise its expert curators and explain her importance to the history of art and design, in which the museum specializes. Swapping distinctive friendship bracelets, often featuring the names of Swift songs and albums or the names of the fans themselves, has become one of the rituals associated with attending an “Eras” tour concert. And friendship bracelets play a starring role in the origin story of her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. The V&A is one of London's most famous museums.
